There are several movie genres. I will write about a few i learnt
Drama: Drama films focus more on real life situations this is so that it gets your emotions very involved. It could also be something that has happened to you or someone you know.
Crime: They tend to focus on robberies or murders as main theme in the movie. They tend to contain alot of violence and some actions scenes
Action: Actions films suck you into the plot and they often have a main character who often fights against evil and they also have alot of special effects.
Adventure: They are similar to an action movie but tend to be more family orrientated. They have a strong storyline and tend to contain a little bit of action. The plots tend to keep the viewers on the edge of their seat to know what happens next.
Horror: Horror films are made to scare and shock the viewers. The way the films are usually made make you want to keep watching so you find out what happens in the end.
Thriller: A thriller is made to shock the watcher. The movie usually starts in an eerie way. Or a confusing way that make you jump.

CameraAngles
Eye level:The camera is portrayed to be a human and you feel that you are the person when the camera moves about.
High angle: A high angle shot is where the camera is above the person or scene. Its like its on a building looking down or a crane.
Low angle: A low angle sht is where the camera is placed below whats happening that looks up to the set or cast and cause a look to make them look big.
Birds eye view: A birds eye view is directly above the action looking straight down at whats happening. It shows things from above such as a person you could ony see the top of their head or if you saw a lamp post you could only see the lamp on the top.

Week1:Media production and communication
On my first day (9th September) i learnt how to use the sony handycam and also how to set up a tripod and attach the camera onto it.
At first i did not fully understand how the tripod worked and had to have some help. After a couple of bits of help i had the camera attached and then remembered how to use the tripod for future uses.
I understood straight away how to use the camera and did not find it too difficult. I did a few camera shot which were wide shots, close ups and panaromic angles.
On my second day (10th September)I learnt what textual analysis was. I learnt this by being given a storyboard with 3 pictures on and had to give the connotation and denotation for each board. Later on the class watched the opening to 2 films the first of which being Physco it starts with a panning shot and shows a whole city. it then slowly zooms into a bedroom almost getting the readers straight into the room. The music through out the opening gives a sense of expectation almost bad expectation.
The second of these films was The Shining the camera was following the car through the roads it gives you the feeling that there is something very close behind the car this feeling is also helped by the music in the background.
